A beautiful home. A better world. We make the connection.
At Paliwoda Properties™, we believe that everyone cares about the health of the planet. Not just movie stars, activists and dreamers, but every one of us. We all want to live in a world with clean air, abundant forests, thriving communities and a future full of promise.
We also recognize that anyone who builds or remodels a home has one priority above all: to create a beautiful, healthy space where everything works.
Paliwoda Properties connects these two ideals simply by using the best building materials and products made locally and around the world.
Our guiding vision: use sustainably-made products that perform as well, and look as stylish, as conventional ones. We are committed to providing candid, credible information about every product we use.
How we select our building materials and products
Many builders have a straightforward way of deciding whether to use a particular product. They ask, "How does it look?" "How well does it work?" and "How much does it cost?" We consider the same factors, but also look for products that offer expanded value: they protect health, use resources sparingly, and are extraordinarily well made.
We define product quality by considering what happens over its entire life-cycle. How is it made and by whom? Will it give joy and service for years? Can it be repaired, or will it need to be replaced if something breaks? What will happen to it when it is no longer needed? And of course we don't even consider a product unless it's beautiful; after all, there's nothing sustainable about a product that gets discarded for aesthetic reasons before it wears out. When answers to our questions don't satisfy us, we don't use that product.
The materials and products used in our buildings aren't just light-green versions of the same old stuff. We weigh all kinds of factors: How much fuel will be used to transport a "green" product? If a less-toxic material doesn't work or doesn't last, is it really environmentally friendly? We use a product only when we believe that its impact on human health and the planet is, on balance, a clear step forward. And we pledge to fully disclose all that we know about the materials and products we use, and how we arrived at the decision to use them. If we have reservations we'll work with our vendors to make their offerings safer and more effective.
We don't believe in compromising between green and gorgeous. And it's a liberating feeling.
