Genotype Diagnostics

Genotype Diagnostics™ is building on recent advances in DNA analysis technologies to enable broad, secure, and private access to trustworthy and accurate individual genetic information. Our goal is to help customers make sense of their own genetic blueprint, with insight into inherited traits, personalized medicine, and ancestry.

We believe that everyone has the right to know the secrets hidden within their own DNA, and we combined scientific and educational resources to help interpret and understand it.

Health Risks

By looking at specific markers within DNA, we are able to examine susceptibility for over 70 health conditions. Together with advice from a qualified health care professional, understanding these risk factors helps empower customers to look for warning signs, and to take appropriate lifestyle choices that manage these risks.

Our pre-pregnancy carrier panel examines perspective parents for recessive conditions -- traits that, while unlikely to affect parents, may still pass on to their offspring. This evaluation helps identify if either mate is a carrier of a specific recessive gene, or what options are available for conceiving a child.

Personalized Medicine

One of the great promises of genetic testing is personalized medicine - allowing caregivers to prescribe medication optimized for each patient’s unique genetic profile. In some patients, medications may be less effective or even harmful. Using the latest advances in our understanding of the human genome, the drug response panel examines likely interactions with a variety of different medications.

Ancestry Analysis

Genotype Diagnostics uses the latest discoveries about the human genome to trace personal heritage. We test both mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which is passed down from mother to child and reveals direct maternal ancestry; and, in males, the Y-chromosome which is passed down from father to son and reveals direct paternal ancestry. This analysis allows classification into hundreds of maternal and paternal family markers (haplogroups) that may trace ancestral lineage back thousands of years.
